Dawn Shores – It’s been 6 years since she lost her battle with cancer. She fought for nearly 4 years. For the first two years, she didn’t tell anyone she had cancer. She didn’t want to be a burden. When we found out, she said she wasn’t going to do radiation or chemo therapy. The doctors felt that it might be too risky. The cancer was now wrapping itself around her heart. Each time she visited the doctor, he said that he thought he was seeing a ghost. She should have been dead, already. She never talked about her cancer. She was in complete denial. She told us not to mention the word cancer. She got out of bed everyday, got dressed, put on her makeup and painted her nails, no matter how bad she felt. Her will to live was phenomena. Until, her final day… she didn’t have the strength to get up.
She was an incredible woman! Her strength, courage and faith were unwavering. She loved her granddaughters, Stephanie and Sam with all of her heart. She would spend hours talking with them about their lives. She had a genuine interest and concern. She touched so many people in her short time here. She was kind and patient. We feel so blessed in the time we got to share with her! Heaven, you gained an angel!
